The Edible Garden

The kitchen garden is for Arne the most rewarding part of the garden. Plants that are beautiful and delicious and quick to grow, must be worthy of special attention and on this course we look at designing areas for growing food.  We'll look at incorporating edible plants in many different areas of the garden but focus most specifically on designing an area with the essential elements needed for growing produce. The bed layout, style of path and edging, enclosure and even how you support your plants can not only aid the actual growing but also give a very specific feel to the space. Adding cutting flowers (providing a bountiful supply for the house) to growing fruit, vegetables, salads and herbs gives further opportunities to play with colour and design. The pace is fast, and the beds are constantly changing, so there are always chances for renewal and experimentation in the glorious mix of changing combinations.
